Group Sessions

Why Group Sessions?

Group sessions provide a structured, supportive environment where students can learn alongside peers who are at a similar ability level. With the same evidence-based Orton-Gillingham (OG) approach at the core, group instruction with two students still offers a multi-sensory, systematic framework while encouraging positive social interaction and shared learning experiences. In group sessions, students benefit from learning different strategies and perspectives and enjoy a sense of community in the learning process. Students who may benefit from group sessions include those who:

  • Are open to peer interaction

  • Benefit from social learning—hearing others’ questions and strategies

  • Enjoy peer encouragement and community

Currently, my group sessions are designed for two students who are at a similar ability level and are either related (e.g., siblings, cousins) or friends. This helps support a smoother and more comfortable transition into your child’s OG learning journey.

Testimonials

Parent Testimonial

Each of our twin boys was diagnosed with a learning disability: dyslexia (reading) and dysgraphia (writing). The psychologist suggested Orton Gillingham tutoring. Amanda La Grange was highly recommended to us by one of my colleagues. Over the years, Amanda has supported our kids with their literacy development. She has created personalized lessons based on their individual needs while working with them together. Her skills as an Orton Gillingham Practitioner have been instrumental in their growth. Amanda provides written progress reports each term to highlight what the students have learned. She uses a multisensory approach that makes the time with her engaging. The boys are interested in their lessons, and they feel that Amanda knows and cares for them. Amanda is thoughtful, patient, experienced, kind, and skilled. She connects with her students, provides encouragement and the necessary support to put them at ease. Their time with Amanda has helped them to have develop confidence and skills as readers and writers. The best news of all is that both our kids now read and write for enjoyment! We are so grateful for Amanda’s support, and highly recommend her.
